The name of the shop is its address. Via dello Orologio (literally "Clock Street" for the church clock tower visible as you look down the street) itself represents a step into the past, and today this historic street has many small shops selling arts, crafts and fashion. At number 28, there are antiques from around the world --everything from French porcelain to Italian furniture and paintings by Sicilian artists of the last several centuries. This is the art that once graced the palatial homes of the Sicilian aristocracy. Entering Via dello Orologio 28 is a step into the past. What makes it special is the selection of items that are hard to find elsewhere. Located near galleries and museums, Orologio is something of a museum itself (in miniature), and well worth a visit. The owner, Signor Civiletti, is a recognized expert in
Sicilian antiques, and also a distinguished interior designer whose traditionalist decorating concepts bring to life the best of the Baroque past. And that's what awaits your
discovery in this unique showplace --the best of the past, right in the
centre of Palermo's historical district. |
